Debbie Lewis – More than a Conqueror
Thousands of individuals chose to get supplies through HDIS in order to continue to live independently. Why? It’s not just because we have the supplies you need. It’s because we truly understand your needs and strive to meet them in a way that preserves your dignity and independence.
In part, our understanding stems from conversations with people who battle to be independent despite their circumstances. But many of us here also relate because of our own life experience.
Born without hands, Debbie Lewis recently joined our HDIS family as a Customer Care Team Supervisor. Her story of independence and perseverance is truly incredible.
“Every day I prove that I am independent,” Debbie states. “My biggest strength is also my biggest weakness—I don’t want any help!”
And Debbie doesn’t need any help. She cares for her husband and their two children, she drives on her own, and she can do almost anything without hands, including writing and painting.
“There are many different kinds of disabilities: physical, mental, outward and inward. But I choose to think that I am not disabled; that’s what gets me through… I never think that I can’t do something.”
